Social Media as Learning Tools

As we all think of how to use social media for instructional purposes, this article contains some ideas (5 to be precise).

I like the fact that these pointers guide us to start with simple tools:

  • Facebook
  • Blogging
  • Twitter
  • Pinterest
  • YouTube

The bottom line is:

“Social media platforms are useful when teachers know how to use them.”

    Yes! I absolutely agree! I went to a conference this summer and so many sessions were about promoting technology use in the classroom, but our conversations kept coming back to the fact that tools need to be utilized purposefully, and instructors need to have a full knowledge of how to use each tool, and which tool fit with the outcomes of the course/assignment. Using technology just to use technology is fruitless.
